dance teacher (BA)

I’ve graduated from dance pedagogy studies (BA) at Turku University of Applied Sciences 6/2023 where I specialised in teaching contemporary, ballet, jazz dance and children’s dance.

My studies included training dance technique, style specific and general pedagogical studies studying music, anatomy/physiology, dance history and dance analysis. In our studies we also worked with live musicians as dancers and as teachers. We intensively studied choreography, improvisation and composition and the studies included exploration of one’s artistic work. During spring 2022 i travelled to Stavanger Norway to study contemporary dance at the University of Stavanger.

As a dance teacher I’m gentle and encouraging and focuse on student’s personal development. When teaching I target clean lines, continuous flow, motion quality and safety. I have experience teaching weekly classes and short term workshops in ballet, contemporary, jazz, show and children’s dance.

My interests as a choreographer are narrativity, characters and creating intimacy on stage. In my work I focuse on working with space and athmosphere through relationships between the dancers and portraying feelings with movement qualities and dynamic changes. In the future I would love to work more with dance film and videography. I’m interested in learning more skills when it comes to filming and working as a choreographer on set and collaborating with different fields.

My strengths as a dancer are resilience, physicality, endurance and creativity. I have the ability to use the full range of my flexibility and my interests are the use of gravity and floorwork but also working on perfecting technique. Currently I’m exploring the possibilities of partnering and contact improvisation.
